Join us! Follow the steps below…

[ ] First up: 👓Create an Anonymous G-account👓

  1. Go to the Google account creation page (https://accounts.google.com/)
  2. Click Create account button and choose “for my personal use”
  3. Provide a random first name of your choice I recommend not providing the optional last name. (Example: Jane or John)
  4. Provide a random birthday and birth year before 2006 (to make you 18+) and “rather not say” for your gender
  5. **MOST IMPORTANT STEP**: Choose a username that follows the following pattern, “alabprattgroupmemberX” where X is a number that is not taken yet. (example: alabprattgroupmember404)
  6. Create a password and enter it in the required fields. Make sure it’s strong and unique. (example: reMeMber^^e2)
  7. Don’t enter your phone number or recovery email. Click “Skip” if prompted. (If you can not skip, use your number or a friends/family to verify an account… if you only use this account to interact with me and other communities, you will not have your number released.)
  8. Review Google’s terms and conditions (I recommend looking at more options and turning off any tracking or targeted ads for this account), then click “I agree.”
  9. Your anonymous Google account is now created and will be used in the next sections to involve you in the group in a more meaningful way.

(be aware that if you do not follow the username format, you will receive less interaction from me and will not be allowed in the discord group)

[ ] Second: 🙋🏾‍♂️Visit my Virtual Office and Ask Me Anything🙋🏻‍♀️

  1. My virtual office hours are typically 8am-1pm EST, but are subject to change and some days I may not be in my office.
  2. Open a private browser to avoid accidentally signing into your own personal account.
  3. Login to your anonymous Google account from step 1 (example: [email protected])
  4. Click the 9-dot “google app grid” in the top right of your browser and click the YouTube iocn.
  5. Click your profile circle in the top right of your browser and select “create a channel”
  6. Your name and handle should still be “alabprattgroupmemberX” where “X” is the number you chose for yourself in step 1 (example name: alabprattgroupmember404, example handle: @alabprattgroupmember404)
  7. Your channel may be created automatically and you can continue on. However, sometimes YouTube will need to process your request and you will have to come back later.
  8. Type “https://www.youtube.com/@alabpratt” in your private browser address bar or URL bar located at the middle/top of your browser.
  9. Click the profile picture circle that has the red circle and text “LIVE” on it to enter Professor Pratt’s virtual office.
  10. Ask me anything in the chat motivated by the fact that you are anonymous… goodbye implicit bias!

(Just like in a real world office, sometimes I will be working on something time sensitive and won’t be able to interact meaningfully. However, if other group members are present, they may be able to answer your question as well… like in a study group)

[ ] Third: 🏡GET IN HERE -Private Community Awaits🏡

  1. BE AWARE that the discord community contains: current students, previous students, friends/family of Professor Pratt, and even Professor Pratt himself under his own anonymous group number! This private community is a training ground for the internet. You have no idea who you are talking to… but you can know that Professor Pratt wants them in the group for a reason.
  2. Open a private browser to avoid accidentally signing into your own personal account.
  3. Login to your anonymous Google account from step 1 (example: [email protected])
  4. Fill out this form to let Professor Pratt know that you want to be a part of the discord, your photo will need to be 1mb or less (click the link above)
  5. Fill out this form to let the GROUP ADMIN know that you want to be admitted to the discord, your photo will need to be 1mb or less AND CLEAR (click the link above)
  6. Wait for the Group Admin to process your request and Professor Pratt to admit you into the discord during the current cycle window)

(Full rules in the discord… but some key ones here: 1. DO NOT ASK ANYONE WHO THEY ARE IN REAL LIFE 2. DO NOT PURPOSELY SPREAD FALSE INFORMATION 3. TREAT EVERYONE AS IF THEY ARE PROFESSOR PRATT, RESPECT THEM AND BE KIND)
